FROM THE ANCIENT AZTECS AND EGYPTIANS TO TODAY’S ISTRIA

Even before America was discovered, the Olmec and Aztec Indians cultivated cocoa in what is now Mexico. The Aztecs made their miraculous drink “xocolatl” (xoc = bitter, atle = water) from cocoa, water and spices. The drink restored their strength, and they also believed in its aphrodisiac properties. In 1528, the conquistador Hernan Cortes brought cocoa to Europe, and how much the Europeans liked it is evidenced by the Latin name for the cocoa plant “theobroma cacao” – food of the gods.

The story continues with one of the oldest recorded plants, which originates from ancient Egypt: chicory. Although it was long used only as a less valuable substitute for coffee, the fibers from its root (inulin and oligofructose) have shown excellent nutritional properties by stimulating the development of positive bifidobacteria in the digestive tract. Oligofructose allows for a much better utilization of minerals from food, especially calcium and magnesium, and has other positive properties that we cannot write about here.

Finally, our technologists get involved. By combining a natural sugar substitute – maltitol, dark cocoa and oligofructose, they created a dark, crunchy, plant-based dessert rich in fiber. It can be enjoyed by those who cannot or do not want to eat sugar, but want to snack on something sweet and delicious. Yes. VitaliX Black contains the “food of the gods”.
